Now entering our 4th season (est. 2023), our Competitive Pom Team welcomes dancers ages 5–18 of all experience levels. Our season runs June through December, with one practice each week dedicated to building strong pom technique, improving dance skills, and learning competition choreography.
Throughout the season, our team competes in three local pom competitions, giving dancers the opportunity to perform, challenge themselves, and celebrate their growth.
Our program emphasizes teamwork, confidence, performance quality, and strong pom technique in a supportive and encouraging environment. Whether your dancer is new to pom or looking to take their skills to the next level, this is a great opportunity to grow as both a performer and a teammate while enjoying the excitement of competition.
Meet Your Coaches
Savannah Pfanstiel
Savannah was born and raised in Branson, Missouri, where she began dancing at just 2 years old. She started her dance journey in clogging before expanding her training to include jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, acro, pom, more. Growing up in a show town provided countless opportunities to perform while training in both studio and school dance programs.
After graduating from high school, Savannah attended The University of Tulsa, where she was a four-year member of the Division 1 Pom Squad, under the leadership of Amanda Robison Snider, former University of Oklahoma Pom Member. Following college, she continued pursuing her passion for dance as an instructor and choreographer. Savannah has also judged for Oklahoma All State Dance Solo Finalists.
Now entering her fifth-year teaching at Turning Pointe Dance of Tulsa, Savannah teaches a variety of styles with a primary focus on pom, jazz, and technique. She also serves as the head coach of the studio’s competitive All-Star Pom Team and choreographs for company dancers, helping them grow in both technical ability and performance quality.
Savannah is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging environment where dancers are challenged to grow in confidence, discipline, and artistry. She is grateful for the opportunity to invest in the next generation of dancers and considers it a privilege to share her love of dance with each student she teaches.
Alex Leonard
Alex brings over 25 years of dance experience and 12 years of teaching a wide range of styles, ages, and levels. She began her teaching career at Kim Massay Dance Productions (a Dance Spirit Top 50 studio!) and has since been on staff at Elite Dance of Tulsa, Studio 5678 (Idabel, OK), and BC Dance (Texarkana, TX).
After completing her competitive dance training in Texarkana, Alex attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where she was a member of the award-winning UCO Pom Squad. She later earned her Master of Education from the University of Central Arkansas while dancing for the UCA Honey Bears Dance Team.
Alex has also traveled nationwide as an NDA summer camp instructor, judged regional and state dance team events across Oklahoma and Arkansas. She is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Bixby East Elementary.
She is passionate about refining technique while fostering creativity and a genuine love for dance.
Holly Columbus
Holly Columbus began her dance training at the age of three, training in ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical at Broken Arrow Academy of Dance and Theatre Arts and continued her dance training there until the age of 18. She enjoyed being a part of their Company Dance Team and attended summer intensive training courses during this time. In 2000, she continued her dance training under the instruction of Director Mary Magaret Holt at the University of Oklahoma where she later received her Bachelor of Arts degree.
She has traveled and received professional training from Moscelyne Larkin of Tulsa Ballet, Roman Jasinski Jr., Kirstin Jollisant, and Ronnie Underwood from The Ballet West Company & tv show “Breaking Pointe”, to name a few. Holly has performed in such greats as Shostakovich Suite, Coppelia, Giselle, Fette France, and many more. She has choreographed dances that have won State and Regional Awards and have competed at the National Level.
Holly is truly excited to be able to offer TURNING POINTE Dance of Tulsa to the community. She believes that dancing can enhance your academics, grace, style and your love for life! Her passion for dance and teaching is great and to be able to pass it on to future generations is a blessing! She knows some of her students may not go on to dance in college or professionally but during the time she is blessed to be their dance teacher she hopes to instill dance knowledge and terminology, a love for the performing arts, and most important, a desire to dance with joy!
Holly’s passion is in Ballet and her discipline is in the Ballet Russe technique. She is a member of the National Dance Association and Oklahoma State Dance Team’s Directors Association. She continues her dance education by attending teacher seminars and dance conferences all over the U.S.
She loves to bring energy and enthusiasm to each class while striving to be a positive role model to her students. Along with studio dance, Miss Holly has led a successful career in real estate since 2004. She is thankful and blessed for her amazing husband, Bryce and their three daughters, Colbie, Tennyson, and Giselle.
