Students are not to be left at the studio for excessive time before or after class. Parents, legal guardians of minor students or adult students hereby waive the right to any legal action to any injury sustained on studio property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted before, during or after class time.

CONDUCT

Conduct in class as well as in the lobby and dressing room is important. Please be respectful of your teachers and other students before, during, and after class. Students must listen to the teachers and follow directions. In the lobby and dressing areas it is important to remain quiet while waiting for class. These rules are in place so that students can learn without distraction.

Do NOT wear dance shoes from car into the studio. Dirt & gravel will ruin the floor.

Only Dance Shoes allowed in the Dance Room. No outside street shoes.

No food or drinks allowed inside studio. We have students and instructors with severe food allergies. Water bottles are encouraged. We provide a water fountain.

No gum chewing allowed. No running or yelling at any time.  No standing on furniture.

We want to keep our business nice and with your help, it will stay nice and clean for you!

Parents may wait in the lobby where there is a TV with live feed from the dance rooms.

VISITOR VIEWING

Visitor Viewing is the week when parents are permitted to observe class inside the studio. We provide this opportunity for parents so they can observe the growth of the dancers, and to experience the class from the “inside”. It is a great time to take photographs and video. Please note that some dancers might become shy when there is an audience in the room. Let them know ahead of the class time that 'mommies and daddies' will be watching.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Ballet/Tap/Jazz Primary Level:  This class introduces young dancers to three styles of dance and inspires movement and creativity within a positive environment. This “combination” technique helps to keep the dancers interested and focused during class. Dancers learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. The use of fun, age-appropriate music engages the dancers’ minds and bodies. Dancers will learn basic steps while learning how to follow direction and imitate movement. Great for flexibility, coordination and building social skills.

Ballet 1 Beginner:  A beginning level of true classical ballet. This level is for students between the ages of 6 and 10 that have never taken or have only taken combination classes. The class will cover terminology, basic barre work, body strength building and choreography. Due to the amount of material and the need to develop muscle memory a student may remain 2 to 3 years in this level. This is a once a week class.

Ballet 2 Intermediate:  An intermediate level of true classical ballet. This level is for students between the ages of 8 and 12. The class will cover terminology, dance history, barre, floor patterning, body strength building and choreography. Due to the amount of material and the need to develop muscle memory a student may remain 2 to 3 years in this level. This is offered as a twice a week class but may be taken once a week.

Ballet 3 Pre-Pointe:  Requires a pre-requisite of 1 year of ballet or an equivalent from another studio. This level is for ages 10 and up that understand barre, center work, and across the floor. Students need to know all barre exercises, movements, and terminology. Students will be required to know and understand verbal terms. Students will learn multiple rotations, more difficult jumps, and intricate steps. This is taken twice a week.

Ballet 4 Advanced Pointe:  Requires a pre-requisite of 3 continual years of ballet or an audition. This level is for ages 11 and up. Students at this level will be polishing their technique. This level is designed to build endurance and push the envelope of training. Students at this level need little to no explanation of terms or execution. The dancer will develop more of what they have already achieved. Dancers will continue to grow in Variation/Adage/Allegro. This is taken twice a week.

Lyrical:  Designed to express movement from the inner emotion is a primary in choreographing and interpreting this style. Lyrical dance interprets music or words, showing the emotion of the dance. Dances will condition the body for strength, coordination, and flexibility.

Jazz:  Combines many styles and techniques. The first half of class consists of exercises to stretch, tone muscles, and develop support for proper alignment of the body. A variety of styles will be taught from the classic jazz styles through the contemporary steps of today.

Tap:  The emphasis in tap is on creating rhythms using our feet and body as our instrument. Jazz moves are also incorporated into this style of dancing.

Hip Hop:  Students will learn dance forms consisting of breaking, popping and locking. A high energy class that emphasizes bringing style and personality to the movement. Turning Pointe is very careful to teach only age-appropriate moves.

Acro:  A cross between gymnastics and dance. It adds an element to dance. These dance moves can enhance styles such as, jazz, lyrical, and pom/hip hop. A few elements are limbers, back bends/walkovers, front walkovers, chin stands, and much more.

Private lessons:  Available through prearrangement with Instructor. Offers the student who desires special attention to work one-on-one with the instructor. 30 or 60 minutes.
